Simplicita Direct Cremation Funeral Plan Reviewed in 2019 – Good? Bad?

Simplicita Direct Cremation Funeral PlanThe Simplicita Direct Cremation plan which they call the “No Funeral” plan which strictly should be the “no funeral service” plan but it makes the point that, like all standard direct plans, no service is included, and with most, that is it. So what does their plan include?

  • Provision of an experienced funeral director’s services.
  • Assistance and advice on registration of death.
  • A simple wood-based coffin.
  • Transfer of the deceased into their care from any hospital mortuary, hospice mortuary or  coroner’s mortuary in mainland England or Wales.
  • Appropriate care of the deceased.
  • Transfer to a crematorium of our choice for private, unattended cremation.
  • Strewing of the ashes within the crematorium grounds (other options available.)
  • Provision of a certificate and/or certified copy of the crematorium register.
  • A contribution towards the crematorium fee.

Extras at the point of use with the Simplicita Direct Cremation Plan if needed:

  • Cremation certificates  (if the Coroner is not involved.)
  • Removal of the deceased from home address, a residential, nursing/care home, hospital or hospice without mortuary facilities to a local private mortuary, to enable cremation certificates to be completed.

The options with you can choose to add to the Simplicita Direct Cremation Plan.

  • Return of the ashes by courier to any UK mainland address in a simple transit urn.
  • Return of the ashes by courier to any UK mainland address in a solid wood ashes casket with an engraved nameplate.

What are disbursements?

These are basically “third party” costs, over which we have no control and cannot guarantee.
The plan allows a contribution towards these costs If these costs are not covered by the plan’s value at the time of need, there may be a balance to pay.

The Simplicita Direct Cremation Plan ethical guarantee:

Should any variables or options included in your plan at death exceed the requirements of your direct cremation arrangements, we will refund the purchased cost difference to your estate.

The essentials of the Simplicita Direct Cremation Plan.
  • Their professional fees £950.
  • The crematorium fee  including sundries – we include an allowance of £450.
  • The plan administration fee (a one-off charge) £245. 

Basic Cost of the Simplicita Plan  £1,645.   

The following NOT included in the standard fee and may be payable at the time.

  1. Cremation certificates  currently £164.00
  2. Removal of the deceased from home address, a residential, nursing/care home, hospital or hospice without mortuary facilities to a local private mortuary, to enable cremation certificates to be completed. This cost is variable and is currently Circa £250.00

The options offered within the Simplicita Direct Cremation Plan:

  • Return of the ashes by courier to any UK mainland address in a simple transit urn £50.
  • Return of the ashes by courier to any UK mainland address in a solid wood ashes casket with an engraved nameplate £100.
